Friday Features - Easter Bunny

Happy Easter Weekend everyone!
I'm pretty excited for this weekend. Not only will my parents be visiting, but I get to see my whole family on Sunday! Oh yeah, and the Easter Bunny is coming to town! One of my favorite things as a kid were Easter egg hunts :)

I created these adorable Bunny Earrings and couldn't help but look for other cute bunny finds.

I actually had one of these when I was a kid! Mine was a piggy bank!

Don't eat too many chocolate bunnies and peeps this weekend :)

Black & White & Cute All Over

We recently got a bottle calf and he's just the cutest thing :) His mommy had twins and the farmer didn't want the mother to get too weak, so we adopted a new baby.

Yesterday morning I got to go feed him...quite an interesting activity! He's a good eater, but boy is he messy! I had slobber all over my pants by the time he was done...yuk! I had to feed him again in the afternoon and we did much better job.

We've had calves in the past, but none as cute as this little guy. I just love the patch of white on his face :)

Trend Watch - Nautical

I always try to keep up on the latest trends when it comes to my shop. I don't always look for the hottest trends, but the ones that I feel will be around for a while and ones that I personally love. The latest trend I've been loving is the Nautical Trend.

I've been seeing anchors everywhere lately. They're so fun and make me want to board the next available cruise ship! (even despite the recent cruise ship disaster!) I was recently asked to make the card above for an anniversary. I had made a similar one a while back for a birthday card and hadn't even considered turning it into an anniversary card. I love it!

I had also just completed making these cuff links and matching tie tack around the same time the custom request came in...I call that fate :)

You can bet you'll be seeing this anchor design on a wedding invitation soon as well!

What trends have you been loving lately?

Emerging Foggy Spring

This month's BBA Challenge is brought to us by Linda who says "March is the month for spring, but early spring. Let's explore color in terms of tint. In color theory, a tint is the mixture of a color with white, which increases lightness. We often create with color and ignore tints of color. Create a flowery/botanical/plant project with muted tints leaving lots of white space, if you can. This project is to challenge your thought processes about color, using tints. Don't be intimidated by the absence of bright color. Get creative!"

I decided to get creative by tinting some paint. Above are all the materials I used for this challenge.

I started by mixing the yellow and blue paints with white to get my pastel tint.

I then taped off half of the wooden discs with painters tape. By folding the tape around the back, it creates a little tail which is nice to hold onto while you're painting.

I just eyeballed the tape and started painting.

I love how these turned out! The blue looks great, but if I use the yellow again, I'll definitely do a couple more coats. I think I'll make these into post earrings after I add a clear coat. But I can definitely see these as magnets as well!

Is It Fate?

Last month I blogged about how I had put a lot of thought into reintroducing my Name Albums back into my shop and that a price increase was inevitable. I didn't know if these would still sell after raising my prices, but I was willing to give it a try.

Well, my first album sold shortly after relisting them! It was to a repeat customer and she didn't question the prices at all. Is if fate that she chose to have her book made in my favorite colors :)

She chose light pink, raspberry and teal for a one-year old little girl's birthday book.

I had so much fun creating this book that I'm glad I relisted these and got to make one in such pretty colors :)

More for the Men

I've been really surprised at how well my cuff link line has done. In fact, I didn't realize that men wore cuff links other than to weddings. (Can you tell we don't dress up often...lol) But I'm so happy they've done so well because I love coming up with new designs for them :)

I've branched out yet again and started making matching tie tacks for my cuff links. I just started with a few designs to see how they'll go over before I make too many.

I know men can be hard to buy for, so hopefully these will make great gifts for the guys. But really, they can be used as so much more than tie tacks. I thought they'd be fun on a purse or bag and could be used as a brooch or lapel pin as well.

This bicycle design is one of my latest and I love the matching tie tack and cuff link set :)
